Janet Werner est née à Winnipeg et déménagea ensuite de Saskatoon vers Montréal, où elle réside actuellement. En 1985, elle obtint son Baccalauréat en Beaux-arts de la Maryland Institute de Baltimore et compléta en 1987 sa Maîtrise à la Yale University. Les peintures et les installations de Janet ont été admirées à travers le Canada lors d’expositions solo et de groupe; son travail fait également partie de plusieurs collections publiques et privées.
