Né le 17 juin 1978, Jude Griebel a obtenu un Baccalauréat en Beaux-arts de l’Université Emily Carr en 2003. Son travail explore la convergence entre l’expérience corporelle et imaginaire par les thèmes de la mémoire, de la croissance et de la mortalité. Ses peintures lancent un dialogue entre les véritables souvenirs et les événements inventés.

Les personnages sont représentés en pleine recherche de réalisation personnelle et identitaire alors qu’ils se perdent, se transforment et disparaissent dans des mondes parallèles, fondés sur leurs croyances et mythologies. Les œuvres de Jude ont été exposées internationalement, dont récemment en Islande, à Los Angeles et Tokyo. Il a été artiste résident à plusieurs endroits en Amérique du Nord, à Workshop OM au Japon, et au Frans Masereel Centrum, en Belgique. Jude s’est récemment mérité des bourses du Conseil Canadien des arts, et du Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec.

En 2007, la Burnaby Art Gallery a présenté une exposition rétrospective de ses œuvres sur papier, accompagnée d’une publication.
