Aubanel, Kay
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Kay Aubanel studied at the École des Beaux Arts de Montréal, the Montreal Museum School of Fine Arts and Concordia University with further sessions at the Vermont Studio Centre under Bernard Chaet. In her own words: I am drawn to landscapes which bear the marks of their inner thrust and outer erosions such as those of the American South-west, the dry lands of the southern Canadian prairies or the aerial perspectives of Labrador's rough terrain. I delight in the space and rhythms of the land under the flux of changing weather. Landscape, far from remaining frozen in the past, permits the continual discovery of one's own inner spaces.
