Pierre Charrier was born in Montreal in 1955. When he was 17 he developed an interest in photography, going on to study at Concordia University and obtaining his BFA. He was interested by the possibilities of camera obscura and achieved considerable success, participating in many national and international exhibitions. He then worked on a series of very large size black and white images.

Since 1999 he has developed his current technique of combining painting and photo emulsion on a wood surface.
