Daniel Anhorn was born in 1972 in Vancouver, British Columbia, lived in Revelstoke, British Columbia and grew up the son of an immigrant Swiss mountain guide and avalanche technician and a German hausfrau with an innate talent for organic gardening and childcare, in a pastoral mountain setting, where an appreciation for and ability to question notions of the sublime were instilled in him from an early age. The Volkswagens in their rusted out conditions are an attempt to reinterpret the romanticization of 60’s and 70’s counter-cultural lifestyles, values and aesthetics.

Education:  Kelowna, British Columbia, (Okanagan University, Bachelors of Fine Arts, 1998) and Chicago, Illinois, (School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Masters of Fine Arts, 2002). Currently lives and works teaching drawing and sculpture in Chicago Illinois.
