Siddiqi, Joseph
Joseph Siddiqi’s recent paintings are inspired by his home town of Montreal with its closed-in streets and architecture contrasted against wide open parks and the sky above.
From abstracted images of the inner city to futuristic renderings of place to come, these metaphors of the human condition can offer the viewer an insightful look at how we have formed our physical environment and how it in turn now shapes the experience of our daily lives. Joseph Siddiqi holds an MFA from Boston University and is now a Part-time Professor in Painting and Drawing at Concordia University in Montreal. He is represented by Newzones Gallery in Calgary AB, Galerie St-Laurent + Hill in Ottawa ON and Galerie de Bellefeuille in Montreal QC. His work can be found in the Colart Collection, the Canada Council Art Bank and in numerous private collections in Canada, the United States and Europe.
